Hi all,
To continue on the theme of managing contacts from within KMail, here's
a couple more thoughts:

Currently when you right-click on an address in a KMail message, you get the
following options:

Send To
Send Reply To
Forward To
----------------
Add To Addressbook
Open In Addressbook
Copy To Clipboard

Add To Addressbook is pretty smart - if the email address is already in the
address book, you get a message back.
The problem is that there's no easy way to add a second address to an
existing contact - you have to open the addressbook, find the contact, and
add the email address manually.

So I'd rework the behavior like this:

+ Condense "Add To Addressbook" and "Open In Addressbook" to one entry, with
Add appearing if the address is not in the addressbook. Now we have less
RMB items....
+ Rename "Open In Addressbook" to "Edit This Contact"
+ When adding, always bring up the entry the entry for review (Edit Contact
dialog), the same as Open In AddressBook. Here add radio buttons to the
Edit Contact dialog, above the two tabs:
        o Add a new entry
o Append this address to: Combo-box: Names of
Contacts
These radio buttons are only visible when you're adding an address

After selecting a name from the combo-box, the address is filled in the text
field next to Email Address:, so all that's left is to clicking the Add to
associate this email address with the existing contact.

This way, adding an address to an existing contact is about as easy as
adding a new contact.

Thoughts, reactions?

EE
