Hi Prashanth,

again it's only a guess, but the programm which produces the error is the 
assembler /usr/ccs/bin/as which is the original by SUN. Maybe it works 
better, if you you use the gnu binutils together with the gnu compiler. The 
binutils are a package which also includes a linker, gmake, etc.

PS: I am not sure, if you know - we plan to upload precompiled packages of 
kde2.2 quite soon, hopefully next week.
