Hello Colin,

Thanks for that info.

I checked the contents of the KWeatherServicerc file and the station was
Y???, can't remember, it wasn't in your list, and changed it to YSSY. Made
no difference. The error when I booted this time (Before I changed the
station identifier) was that it needed maintenance. Same error after
changing the station identifier.

Where did you obtain the list of station identifiers?

I removed the weather applet from the panel and then added it again, went
into and added both Hobart, Tasmania and Sydney, NSW, Australia. Clicked on
the update all weather stations button and the correct weather icon appeared
beside Hobart (Sunny) and Sydney (Rainy) but when I hover the mouse over the
panel icon temp., dew point etc, are all empty. clicking for an update gives
the 'Station reports that it needs maintenance. Please try a different one'
error again.

I checked the KWeatherServicerc file after re-adding the applet and I now
have
[WEATHERSTATIONS]
stations=YSSY,YMHB
Sydney, as you said, and YMHB is surely Hobart.

Still no joy, unless both stations are down for maintenance.

I'm stumped!

What do you reckon?

Regards,

Graeme.

There should be a file in ~/.kde/share/config called weather_panelappletrc it
should contain something like...

[General Options]
log_file_name=
logging=false
report_location=YSSY
reportview_size=450,325
smallview_mode=3
textColor=0,0,0

and indeed KWeatherServicerc should contain

[WEATHERSTATIONS]
stations=YSSY

Don't forget the empty line at the bottom of the file.

Hi Rex

I don't know why I didn't notice this sooner but the version of kmplayer in
the fedora 7 repositories is kmplayer-0.9.3 while the current version is
kmplayer-0.9.4a. I've just compiled manually and I confirm that this version
compiles installs and works.

Kitchensync is junk it always gives conflicts it hang syncro and simply never
works.

I can't install new programs to the palm with kitchensync. at least i have not
found a way to do it or any docs relating to it.

There is no documentation or setup instructions anywhere on the net. All
forums that have questions about kitchensync are unanswered.
