Well, whatever these updates did, ultimately it seems to have cause X to crash
upon exit for me.
I now have (on FC6):

When I log out of KDE, X (or possibly just kdm) crashes and I'm sent to a
console login. When I switch runlevels to 3 and back to 5 (telinit 3; telinit
5) kdm comes back up and I can log into KDE normally.
Any ideas what's wrong?

Hello,
since the last kdelibs (3.5.7-9.fc6) update from kde-testing my kdm is
now in english, before it was in german. Also I could not get it back
to working under german language settings. There must be something
wrong with kdelibs.
regards
Olaf

Hello,
please can someone tell me where the settings are stored for 'paper
format' and measure system' from kcontrol (Country/Region & Lang ->
Other)? This file should somewhere under ~/.kde/share/config but I
couldn't find it. Thank you!

Upgradig the nvidia driver to the current (100.14.11) seems to have solved the
problem.
Sorry for the noise...
