apt on fc6 seems very confused.

LOL
Me too?
If you can find the time, anyway to rebuild with a higher version number?

Subject: [kde-redhat-users] NetworkManager on fc7
Message: 3
I installed fc7 from the live kde cd. In spite of not choosing dhcp, but
rather a fixed ip I get dhcp and therefore an unwanted ip-number every time I
reboot. The reason is that the usual network service is not running and
NetworkManager uses dhcp no matter what you do. That is rather catastrophic
for me because I have the computer connected to a linksys router and outside
requests are directed to a specific ip number. If the electricity goes and
the computer reboots, I would no longer have access. I have repaired it by
disabling NetworkManager and enabling network, but it seems to be an error in
the installation program that you choose a fixed ip and get a variable dhcp
ip anyway
Best regards
Erik

This is determined by
/usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/99-redhat-storage-policy-fixed-drives.fdi.
You can either edit it or just move it out of that location and
auto
mounting would work.
It has been done as a security measure but policy kit in Fedora 8
should
make this much more usable. There is a recent discussion in
fedora-devel
list about this FYI.

I tried editing the file, changing the two 'false' statements
to 'true' - that produced a udev failure warning on bootup, and
hotplugging didn't work; then, I just deleted my modified file
and renamed the original with an extension; that produced no
error but hotplug still didn't work. I am able to mount the
devices as root, but then they have root permissions, and I can
only read from them. I have a USB pen drive, and an external USB
hard drive - both used to work perfectly with automount
So, is this a hal or udev issue...or something else? - trying to
figure out what I'd bugzilla.

Subject: [kde-redhat-users] desktop-effects with KDE on F7
Message: 5
After trying desktop effect on gnome in F7, I was trying if I get the
same effects in kde. However, I don't get the wobbling effects, but I
do
recognise that menus are somewhat animated ( drawn from small, then
bigger and bigger until it reaches its normal size ), or a sliding
effect. All of this is actual fast, so perhaps the only reason I
noticed it was because I was conscious that I enabled desktop effects
in Gnome.
Looking at KDE Control Center, there is now a Beryl option under
"Appearance and Themes". This option shows Opacity and Shadows. Under
the "Style" option in Control Panel and then the "Effects" toolbar, I
also see "Enable GUI Effects" which is checked, and they all have the
"Animate" option selected, except for the "Menu tear-off handles"
which has "Application Level".
So my questions are:
1) How do I have wobbling windows in KDE ?
2) How do I have cube workspaces in KDE ?

Just doing a routine 'sudo yum update' and it appears that some KDE 3.5.7
packages are coming from updates. Is this intended? Should I assume that this
update won't break the kde-redhat bits that are installed?

Wait a bit and try again. I have more 3.5.7 packages (than in your list) that
are listed by yum update right now on FC6, kde-redhat stable. In particular,
kdebase, kdedesk, kdepim ...
