Hi Rex,

I have noticed something odd with Kpackage, this has happened before many
years back when I was using RH8 I think.

Fedora 7 - KDE 3.5.6-9.fc7 (installed from the LiveCD and all went well, nice
job)

Click on an RPM to install, then enter the PW Up pops Kpackage,
Click install and once finished close Kpackage, however Up pops a D/box
saying:
"KDEInit could not launch 'kpackage" so I click OK.
Then Kpackage then Opens again, so I close it and up pops the above message
again, I click OK and then it does close.

Something else I have noticed is that it is in "roots" Colours/Dec's and I am
sure in FC6 it was in the "users" colours (I could be wrong though) ;)

Cheers

Colin

kdeadmin had a bug wrt that, but I thought it got fixed via an
update.... lemme go double-check that.

Right, Fedora's kpackage runs as root via consolehelper (instead of
using kdesu as I think it should).

have :) .

Cheers

Bummer, supposedly fixed there:
* Wed May 23 2007 Than Ngo <than@redhat.com> -  7:3.5.6-5.fc7
- fix bz#241049, kpackage does not run from the menu

We may have to reopen that bug.
