Subject: [kde-redhat-users] Kontact Crashes
Message: 1

Just installed the new kdelibs packages for fc6 x86_64. Kontact crashes.
Kmail, Korganizer, Kaddressbook, knotes and akregator, running individually
works fine.

Run kontact and boom with signal 11

Bummer

Eli

I bet you have installed the new basket RPM.
'rpm --erase basket' and then try kontact again.

That did it... Thanks. actually forgot that it was there. To bad too. It looks
like a good way to organize info.

I know.
The new basket integrates directly into Kontact, but it is badly broken.
We (kdepim developers) have been getting a bunch of bug reports about it.
Especially from SuSE users.

Rex, I really think you should go back to the old basket v0.6.
Until then, everyone should exclude basket from their updates.
You can add the line "exclude=basket" to your /etc/yum.conf.

It has been rebuild yesterday, and split into basket and basket-kontact. You
should be able to re-install at least basket without kontact support.

Hmm, or make the basket integration kinda opt-in, ie, not enabled by
default? Maybe Extras' split of basket and basket-kontact will suffice.

opinions?

kontact is working for me with the new basket, but I have not yet tried
basket-kontact. I am using FC-6.

So at least to me the split seems enough.

The opt in approach is usually better. Hope I remember it when the bug fixed
version is out. Like I said, I've been meaning to try it, but I didn't
remember it was there, and it looks like something I would want to use to
organize loose bits of info.
