I don't have any problems with dags repo, but do with Axel Thimms [atrepo?]
repo as it does tend to overwrite a lot of base rpms. I do like kbs repo, and
base my opinions on this page .. http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories

Hi Rexx,
I agree with Sharon, but for a different reason. Axel Thimms
respository ATrpms uses a lot of custom macros in the building of
packages. He does not publish these macros, making it impossible to
build packages from source. I stopped using packages from his repo long
ago, except in the very rare cases I can't get a package from somewhere
else.

Subject: [kde-redhat-users] upgrade to kde 3.5.5 = font weirdness
Message: 3

I've noticed a few minor but strange things have happened since I've
upgraded to kde 3.3.5 (FC5, using stable repo).

1) Some kde apps now use a different menu font than others. I have my
menu font set to Sans 8, which I believe is mapped to DejaVu Sans 8
(but I've forgotten how to check), and Konsole and Konqueror do indeed
use this, but KControl's and Amarok's menu fonts seem to be narrower
(from what I've deduced they are actually DejaVu Sans Condensed).
Additionally, I use the QtCurve KDE/GTK theme and Gaim uses the
narrower fonts, but gimp shows the normal fonts. The difference is
minor (and only cosmetic) but it is noticeable.

2) After the upgrade, Kile's file dialogs were using the single-click
setting, but my global mouse settings specify double-click. All other
apps were correctly using double-click. Switching to single-click and
then back in KControl seems to have fixed this problem, but I thought
it would mention it because it seems like a related settings
inconsistency.

3) (Probably unrelated to 1 or 2) Sometimes at login a konsole window
will pop up and then immediately close. I saw these the first couple
times I logged in after updating to 3.5.5, but they continue to
occasionally pop up at login (not all the time).

Has anyone else seen these sorts of problems? Any ideas about how I
can fix this, or track down the issue(s)?

Thanks,
-wojciech

That's the xdg_config_dirs-hack running on login. In short, it re-runs
kbuildsycoca if needed (to help curb the *many* reports of folks seeing
wierd menus on upgrading).

Hiyall

Wondering if somebody can do me a small favor. I've just upgraded my computer
from fc5 i386 to fc6 x86_64. I've had several major problems. And managed to
fix them. One, of them I need confirmation.

Would somebody running fc6 x86_64 look inside /etc/rpm/platform and tell me
what they see.

Thanks Eli

Subject: [kde-redhat-users] KDE + compiz
Message: 6

Hi,

I'm running FC6 and trying to get compiz working nicely with KDE. I'm almost
there, but there is one small annoyance left I am trying to solve.

But first, here is what I have got working

1. replace kwin with compiz, byt creating in my ~/.kde/Autostart a file
containing

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Exec=compiz --replace gconf & gnome-window-decorator &
GenericName[en_US]=
StartupNotify=false
Terminal=false
TerminalOptions=
Type=Application
X-KDE-autostart-after=kdesktop

2. This is enough to get compiz running under KDE. However you will then
notice some oddities. One is the pager does not work. I found this on
kde-apps

http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=46021

which is a still a little rough, but does give me a working desktop pager. It
doesn't seem to like logout/login, and needs restarting, but I tend to
hibernate instead and that seems fine.

3. Finally, on to my question..

some of the plugins think that the kicker windows are normal windows, and
include them in the list. For instance the scale plugin, and the switcher.

If you fire up gconf-editor and poke around in the compiz settings you will
see that these plugins have a windows type list to include. So, I think all I
need to do is convince gnome/compiz/whatever that kicker windows are of a
type that are not in this list. So, does anyone her know where windows get
defined there type ? I've been searching around for a while and got no where
on this.

Apologies if you think this is a gnome question and not appropriate on this
list, but to me it seems to lie somewhere in the middle...

cheers Chris

The error was gone by removing kdesvn, a package from fedora-extras.
Thought this was the bug descriped in
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=122020. this bug is really
annoying.

Hello,

When starting firefox from the kde menu, the language of firefox will
be in english. If starting firefox from konsole, the language of
firefox is in my native language (german), which is also the setting
under kcontrol. Is there a way to get a german firefox from the kde
menu? Thank you.

FC6 on x86_64 upgraded from FC5 last week. /etc/rpm/platform on my machine
contains:-

x86_64-redhat-linux
