Message: 1
Hi.
since yesterday kopete 0.12.3 (KDE 3.5.5) cannot connect to ICQ anymore
(perhaps AIM too). The error message is that the UIN is already in use.
Problem is known:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136566 (witch patch to fix)
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=213341
kdenetwork-3.5.5-1.fc6
Are you planing to implement the patch?
Greetings,
Sebastian

Subject: [kde-redhat-users] [FC5/x86_64] Clean RPM install; a couple of issues.
Message: 4
Hello Rex,
I'm trying to do a clean KDE install on all my workstations.
Here's a couple of issues I see. (That might RPM-hell the machine)
(kde-testing is enabled.)
A. Please add the following i386 RPMs to satisfy multi-lib:
qt.i386
arts.i386
kdelibs.i386
kdebase.i386
kdemultimdia.i386
(I have no idea why yum wants kdemultimedia, but multi-lib was never too
smart to begin with... and its gotten worse with time :()
B. -kderh seems to be missing (or having older) some RPMs:
qt
arts
kdemultimedia
Is it intentional?

Why?
you're not just doing
yum install kdelibs
instead of
yum install kdelibs.x86_64
are you?

For qt, yes, the others should be the latest kde-3.5.5 versions.

Multi-lib is stupid. Unless I exclude the offending packages in yum's
own configuration, it will download the -updates version that next time
I install anything remotely -kde, and will download the wrong RPM
(versions) from -updates.
Other then that, several applications (such as wine; more in FC6)
require qt and arts. (I'll add kdelibs just to be safe).
BTW, FC6 is even worse, it has an i386 packages each and every single
x86_64 library (-devel's included)

yum install kdexxx kdexxx kdexxx.
I may need to run i386 applications (qt/arts based) so I cannot disable
multi-lib completely.

In both cases (arts, kdemultimedia) kderh carries the same version as
the -updates ones (and yum defaults to -updates).
Any chance of blowing my machine to small pieces on this one?
(I'm using, gaaah, gnome for that last 2 days!)

Not from what I see:
kdemultimedia: kderh = 3.5.5-0.2%dist.kde, core = 3.5.5-0.1%dist
arts: kderh = 1.5.5-0.1%dist.kde, core 1.5.5-0.1%dist
In both cases, our pkgs should win. Wait, for some reason, the
fc5/x86_64 and fc6/x86_64 failed to put .kde on the end. Rats.
Doesn't matter too much, kderh and core arts/kdemultimedia pkgs should
be virtually identical at this point. (I'll go check for sure).
