Sorry for finding the wrong directory. Recall that I
am troubleshooting a cannot yum update fc4 problem.

I need to get the files via rsync because from here
yum does not work when it is pointed at any repository
on the web. (The yum FAQ says some people must do
your own repository to use yum because yum does not
work with some ISP's -- my situation.)

To troubleshooting my cannot-update-fc4 problem, I was
looking hard at the files I have here in my local
repository for which yum update does not work for fc4.
I realized that yum was only finding obsolete
versions of KDE rpm's in my local repository, and that
is why yum is giving missing dependency messages
instead of updating. The problem I found here is that
yum was finding obsolete versions of kde rpm's in the
local Fedora repository, as the up to date rpm's did
not exist in my local KDE repository for fc4.

The next step was to find on the web the up to date
files that should be in my local KDE repository --
just to get a list of correct files on the screen, not
to download them.

I started on the KDE-RedHat web page,
(http://kde-redhat.sourceforge.net/). I found the
wrong directory by copying
"http://apt.kde-redhat.org/apt/" off the screen (web
page), and stepping down into the directories for the
purpose of getting a list of kde fc4 files on the
screen. After doing stepping down into the
directories and finding a list of files for Fedora 4,
I discovered a list of hundreds of files here:

http://apt.kde-redhat.org/apt/fedora/core/4/i386/os/Fedora/RPMS/

(Sorry I found the wrong directory.) The point is I
only have 10 or so files in my local fc4 kde
repository, far far short of the hundreds of files
that I found on the wrong web page.

> rsync://apt.kde-redhat.org/apt/kde-redhat/fedora/4/

I started there and stepped down into the directory
structure, and I find a list of .txt files (not rpm's)
here:

rsync
rsync://apt.kde-redhat.org/apt/kde-redhat/fedora/4/i386/stable/RPMS/

I am still not finding via rsync the rpm's that I need
for fc4.

> Then it's *your* job to find a usable fc4

I have a local repository of fc4 core and updates
rpm's, and that seems to be perfectly OK. The problem
is I do not have the kde-redhat files for fc4.

My question at this point is what is the correct URL
from which I get the kde files for fc4 via rsync?

(I do not have this problem for RHEL4/CentOS4 -- I can
get those kde files via rsync no problem.)

Thanks,

Rick

Rex,

Maybe none of the kde redhat mirrors have the fc4
files.

Here is an example:

ftp://apt.us.kde-redhat.org/linux/kde-redhat/apt/fedora/fedora/4/i386/stable/RPMS

The rpm files there are the exactly the same rpm files
that I have in my local repository.

With those files, I cannot yum update fc4, so maybe no
one can.

BTW, the kde redhat mirrors have already done most of
the work of setting up mirrors. Once that is done,
allowing rsync access is not a huge deal. If you
leaned on the mirrors to allow rsync access, I could
get the files from them, rather than from the source.

Thanks,

Rick

Wrong path/url (again), try instead:
ftp://apt.us.kde-redhat.org/linux/kde-redhat/apt/kde-redhat/fedora/4/i386/stable/RPMS

The general rule is that the path/URL to use is:
/apt/kde-redhat/distro/release/arch
