Thanks, Rex, but 'Close. Uncheck, Apply, Check, Apply' does *not* do
the trick. Any other ideas?

That's worked for the 10+ folks who've had that same problem before.

I am being serious, Rex, it does not work. Perhaps, I should add that
the reported problem appeared after I replaced the processor,
motherboard and graphics card.

*may* (but unlikely) have something to with it... if the new video card
and/or driver doesn't support XRender properly.

Solved after unchecking "Exclude range", inside configuration panel of
anti-aliasing.

Actually the first apply is not needed, at least it wasn't for me on the
four boxes that I had to fix :-)
