Subject: [kde-redhat-users] kde menu editing not working
Message: 1
Just downloaded and installed Xara, a program that's been open-sourced for
vector graphics. It installed without incident, and I can run the program
from the CLI. However, the menu item installation didn't 'take' even though
it indicated it was doing it. I went into kde menu editor by right clicking
on the K menu button and selecting 'menu editor'. The window opened and I
added the program like I've done a hundred times. Once I'd filled in all the
fields, I clicked on the 'Save' icon, and it appeared to save. But, the item
doesn't appear in the menu. I remember encountering this issue some time ago,
but I can't remember the fix - anyone else having this issue?

Doesn't look good:
http://websvn.kde.org/branches/KDE/3.5/kdebase/kioslave/media/configure.in.in?rev=551304&view=log
---------------------
Revision 551304 - (view) (download) - [select for diffs]
Modified Wed Jun 14 09:09:31 2006 UTC (2 months, 1 week ago) by coolo
File length: 5914 byte(s)
Diff to previous 550578
hal 0.4 simply won't work any more
--------------------
But, I'll try reverting this patch, and see where it gets me.

FYI, pulled from the repo since it doesn't even run. I'll see about
actually *trying* it next time/build before pushing to the repo.

If fc5, you may need to disable selinux.

Check out the workaround (i.e. hal downgrade) described here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=201400
Besides, this might be related to the kde-bug here:
