Thanks for the info.
I filed a bug report #132339 meanwhile.

Subject: [kde-redhat-users] kdesu (FC4) bug?
Message: 2

Hi,

I have just noticed on my system (FC4) that kdesu seems broke, in that when
asking for my password, it throws back an error "wrong password"

kdebase-3.5.4-1.2.fc4.kde

Reverting back to:

kdebase-3.5.4-1.1.fc4.kde

Fixes the problem, anyone else seeing this?

Selinux strikes! "setenforce 0" from root fixed the issue - it's funny - all
the changes I'd attempted had been written somewhere, so when I finally got
it to work, I had 5 instances of the same menu item

That doesn't make (much) sense since kdebase's changelog:
%changelog
* Mon Aug 07 2006 Rex Dieter <rexdieter[AT]users.sf.net> 3.5.4-1.2
- kicker-taskbar-resize.diff from kde-packagers (kde bug #128552)

has *nothing* to do with pam/authentication/kdesu. ???

(hope not...)

I did read the %changelog, and thought nothing had changed re kdesu,
