Sorry, my previous information was a bit incorrect.  The stuff that 
isn't showing up in the RHEL4 KDE, is located in the directory:  
~/.kde/applnk-redhat/  Does the new KDE use that directory?  Is there 
any way to integrate that into the new KDE?  The above command doesn't 
seem to work.

I also should add that I didn't actually upgrade from rhel3 to rhel4, 
but instead did a clean install.  For fun I'm going to upgrade one 
machine and see if that changes anything.

No.

KDE (now) uses ~/.kde/share/applnk and/or ~/.local/share/applications

Or, you could modify /etc/xdg.d/kde/applications.menu to use
~/.kde/applnk-redhat (per the xdg spec).
