Hmm, small technical error on page 36.
KSycoca does NOT handle all the config files, like appnamerc. That's still
read directly, by the application.
KSycoca caches the _system_-wide configuration, which is:
* links to applications (-> the contents of the K menu)
* definitions of file types (mimetypes)
* definitions of services (components) and servicetypes (types of component)
Those are all .desktop files, rarely updated, and used by many applications.

BTW: you should try to get AA working. It leads to _much_ nicer presentations
