If the Aspire One is anything like its bigger brothers, press Fn+F7 -- some 
genius at Acer decided it would be a good idea to have a hotkey that disables 
the touchpad with a state that persists over reboots. Took me a while to 
figure that out on my Aspire 7720 too ;)
