depends on the distro, really, as to whether this would be fruitful or not. do
you really think that novel will pick digikam over f-spot no matter how much
better digikam is due to their investment in f-spot both development-wise and
with respect to their c# investment?

on the other hand, i believe linspire is leaving behind lphoto and lsongs for
digikam and amarok.

probably the only useful information we'd get out of talking to distros is the
feedback they get from their users (features requested; bugs run into; etc)

IMHO, the best thing one can do in these situations is to get a buzz going in
the user community and gain a large user base. this is how both k3b and
amarok did it; it's working for krita ... yeah, it's not the shortcut route
but it works, is effective and doesn't rely on the goodwill or common sense
on the part of any other project besides our own.

if you want to see digikam succeed, then get involved with its promo. write
one blog a week about its cool features and get that blog on planetkde.org;
spruce up the digikam website; write an article about it and submit it to
linuxtoday.com, lwn.net, dot.kde.org, etc. ... pimp it's cool features,
highlight what it's best at, highlight what it does that people can't get
(easily) elsewhere; give people step-by-step recipes for getting things
done ... and keep at it. it takes time and consistent application of these
principles, but it works. =)
