Seems it wouldn't cost anything if it was non-commercial (i.e. any profits
on anything sold goes to the project).

What sort of help is there for doing something like this?  I could
probably manage some Knoppix CDs and CDs of RPMs of whatever the newest
KDE at the time is but I don't have a supply of t-shirts or backdrop
posters or stuffed Konquis to hand.
