Kevin fixed a problem with change notifications a few days ago (so it 
will be fixed in KDE 4.2.0). Most likely this is responsible for the 
problems you noticed. Restarting Akonadi after making changes with 
KOrganizer or KAddressBook should make KPilot see the changes.
