Check whether the calendar was reloaded in the meantime by a change in
another pim component. This would invalidate all pointers to items of
the old calendar. So just connect the changed() signal to a slot where
you print out some debug messages.

Furthermore try to compile libkcal with debug symbols, that will provide
better backtraces.
