Various devices have longer or shorter timeouts on connecting, so this isn't 
necessarily a .. oh, wait, the T5 also sports "drive mode" where it acts as a 
USB drive until a hotsync happens. That may be what you're seeing here.

Try switching the device on, hitting hotsync, letting that timeout, and then 
hitting hotsync again and check if that does work.

Now, er, .. what was the original question? The solution is usually to 
configure HotPlug properly.
