Actually, no. Cornelius, Till and me discussed this a bit on irc and we
agreed that the new dialog isn't really an improvement of the current
one.
Some reasons:
- The user can't sort by first name/last name/email address. In the
current one the user can at least sort by display name and email
address. This is a very often requested feature so I don't really want
to loose it again.
- Putting two listviews next to each other isn't really possible because
if the dialog fits on 800x600 then the listviews are much too narrow.
- The usage of three listviews for To/Cc/Bcc is insane. Cornelius
intends to write a new Mozilla/Thunderbird like widget for this (cf.
http://cornelius-schumacher.de/addresseeselector1.png).
During the discussion we also came up with the great idea not to use a
dialog but instead to simply use the overlay widget technique known
from the progress dialog in order to show the addressee selection
inside the composer (directly below the address widget, overlaying the
Subject field and the text field). We'll finish the implementation in
Osnabrück.
Regards,
Ingo
