The Zire21 isn't reported so far.

There is a troubleshooting FAQ on the KPilot website; basically, check that
you can do something with pilot-xfer. A quick fix for you might be to 
enter /dev/ttyUSB0 in the "device" field in KPilot's configuration dialog.
