kmailcool is a separate branch of KMail. It has been used as development
branch and there have been some snapshot releases. It's not part of the
official KDE releases.

Depends on the branch. The HEAD branch contains Kontact and some of the
Kroupware code. There is a kroupware_branch which contains all the code
written for the kroupware project. This branch has nothing to do with
Kontact.

Yes.

Because kde-pim consists of several different subprojects. These may or may
not have some overlap in terms of developers, code or users.

We could make the relation of the different components clearer where such
information is missing, but merging the websites won't gain us much.

Code that is production-ready is part of the official stable KDE releases.
Other code like kitchensync, ksync, kontact etc. is under development. If you
want to learn more about the status of these you should check the mailing
lists, the CVS and the developer information on the web sites.

www.kontakt.org has nothing to do with KDE. The correct URL is
http://www.kontact.org.
