Hmm, maybe 2 list boxes. The right lisbox provide all possible letters
(see JumpButtonBar::recreateButtons() for an example) and you can
move them to the left box

Clicking 'Concat' add the selected item from the right box to the
selected icon in the left box.

Clicking 'Insert' insert the item from the right box as new item in the
left box.

Clicking 'Remove' removes the selected items from the left side and add
them back to the right side.

Maybe also not the best solution...

Handcode to .h and .cpp files. So you can methods to set and get the
value. That avoids making the GUI elements public.

Ok then it's a bug in my gs or qt :(
