kde-3.1.

Beta kde-3.1 is the problem, it's too old. 

You need to use the KDE_3_1_0_RELEASE from cvs, or use
the actual 3.1 packages once they are released.

(To list: I hope it's okay if I direct people here, I
doubt it will cause a lot of traffic)
