I'll take a look at it when you submit the patch, but I am biased towards 
using a tooltip, since that is what they are designed to do. You can define 
the QRect that the tooltip should be active in, so Qt will handle hiding it 
if the mouse leaves the bounding rect of the value string.

I think this is going to take a few iterations to get absolutely right, so 
go with what you got and we will discuss once we have something to look at.

Sounds good. I am fine with letting the card not draw them. It definately 
takes some load off the using application.
