I don't have logon access to that machine. :-(

The only "problem" I can see with the konq method is that it seems to take a 
*much* longer time to retrieve the list than it does to, say, authenticate 
using apache.  On the order of 1 minute+ just to get the listing.  Could that 
cause the hang?  I did let kdiradm sit there for a couple minutes before 
killing it, but...
