you should never be adding an item directly to the scene like this as you can 
not know what will happen to it. this is because plasma does a lot of 
management of the items, and provides no guarantees beyond the containment-
>applet relationship.

if you want the item to appear associated with hte widget, then you should 
just create the item as a child of your applet(). this will keep it with your 
widget, automatically add it to the scene (properly), etc...
