How do you get such a speedup?? I exited KDE, replaced the glibc, cleared the
cache and logged in again (measuring the same thing as you), but there was no
speedup. I have SuSE 9.0, Kernel 2.4.21, and Athlon XP 2000+ with 768MB RAM
(DDR 266) and a Maxtor40 GB HDD working in UDMA3 mode (if I use something
above it freezes the PC when I watch TV), for which: "Timing buffered disk
reads: 84 MB in 3.03 seconds = 27.76 MB/sec".
