Subject:    KDE 2.2 Woes in MM area

I upgraded (?) my Caldera Workstation 3.1 from KDE 2.1 to KDE 2.2 using the 
binary RPMS at KDE.   I now have the following problems:

1.  No startup or shutdown sound and the multimedia apps (XMMS, Kmedia 
Player) don't work.  Kmedia Player starts with a spinning disk on the task 
bar and then just disappears  XMMS will start but if you tell it to play a 
wave file it hangs forever with the play button depressed.  K media player 
did complain about needing libnoatun.so.0 but the file does exist.

2.  Kbattleship won't start - it gives a spinning disk and then disappears.

I can play CDs with kscd - that works and if I got to the console runlevel 3 
I can use play to play wav files such as the startup.

I've checked the process list and there is an entry for kbattleship but I 
can't switch to it.  There is no entry for kmedia player.

Under KDE 2.1 everything worked very well - it was great.  Any ideas on where 
I might begin to look to fix this so KDE 2.2 works as well as KDE 2.1 does?
