YOU ARE MY HERO!   'while ./testasubsys; do sleep 5; don' worked
until my room mate throw my laptop at the wall. :)

There seems another OSS Maestro 2 driver problem in that 3 or 5 times
the frequency was twice as high as normal.  Will see if artsd shows
this behavior also from time to time.
