Hi

As you might already know, use of CDDB in Open Source multimedia apps
became lately problematic because of the non-free licensing of the CDDB
databases.

An Open-Source-like alternative appeared: CDindex

http://www.cdindex.org

There were plans to add general cd-database support in the kde multimedia
libs, although I heard nothing on these lately.

I believe cdindex is a thing to keep in mind when looking at kscd's future
(in special) and at cd-database support in KDE (in geeral).
