Yup.  Different users have different wants, which can't be met by one 
decoder.  Some PlayObjects sound better according to some users, some 
PlayObjects skip less according to others.  So let's keep choice.

I'd be interested in seeing decoding moved into an aRts interface, with 
decoders made into aRts plugins.  I'd not be interested in seeing decoders 
removed for the sake of having fewer decoders.

GPL would be ridiculous to expect all apps to use.  However if you do this 
through aRts, then the licensing problem becomes much less urgent.
