Yep, that's why i fully encourage them to do like on the iPhone, i.e.
tags on the app

"Firmware 1.1 compatible"
"Firmware 1.2 compatible"

And via a proper beta campaign to "force" 3rd party developers to test
their app with the upcoming firmware.
