Again, you are catering for the beginner. That would piss me off no end, if I
had no access to my screen while waiting for something to load. The idea of
having an hour glass linked to the mouse pointer works fine for me. All you need
to do besides some sort of visual feedback that the application is loading, is
simply to lock all instances of the icon, whether it be in the menu or desktop,
so that even if the icon is clicked again, it will not load a second time.
Visual feedback is incredibly important, even to the computer literate, but an
all encompassing screen message would be something hollywood would do for The
Net: Part 2 :)
