You know this reminds me of a conversation I had recently with the 78 year old 
matriarch of our local General Store. She tallies everyone's receipts from 
informal charge accounts and, each month, hands you an envelope stuffed with 
your receipts and a bill. With a tongue in cheek, I told her she should 
computerize her charge accounts and she said, "I've thought about it, but I 
like to be in control!"

So, if someone can design a human<->computer interface that makes 78 year old 
ladies feel like they're in control then we might be getting somewhere.
