Hi there,

I could need some advice for configuring my wlan access via vpn and
kinternet:

I have set up my vpn client according to this manual:

http://wlan.informatik.uni-bremen.de/doku/SuSE/suse_91.html

But I can't receive any pages from the internet/www because of routing
problems (or because the name resolution fails?).

Our wlan at school is set up with a 252 subnet mask. This means that we
can't see other users while logged in. Only the default gateway for internet
connections can be reached.

With Windows XP, where everything is working fine, it looks like this:

(MAC bridgeport)
IP-Adresse 172.21.33.78
Subnet-Mask 255.255.255.252
Gateway: 172.21.33.77

[WAN (PPP/SLIP) Interface)
IP-Adresse: 172.86.76.67
Subnet-Mask: 255.255.255.255
Gateway: 172.86.76.67

But with Linux I get this logged:

local IP-Adresse according to KWiFi: 172.21.23.78

kinternet goes like this now:

SuSE Meta pppd (smpppd-ifcfg), Version 1.50 on wlannet-023-78.
Status is: disconnected
trying to connect to smpppd
connect to smpppd
Status is: disconnected
Status is: connecting
pppd[0]: Plugin passwordfd.so loaded.
pppd[0]: Renamed interface ppp0 to dsl0
pppd[0]: Using interface dsl0
Status is: connecting
pppd[0]: Connect: dsl0 <--> /dev/pts/1
pppd[0]: MPPE 128-bit stateless compression enabled
pppd[0]: replacing old default route to eth0 [172.21.23.77]

=> This seems to be fatal in my opinion: is the route changed or not? The
internet-gateway should be 172.21.23.77 exactly! But this doesn't seem to be
the case?

pppd[0]: local IP address 172.86.76.67

=> I don't understand where this second IP-address gets into effect?

pppd[0]: remote IP address 172.21.255.241

=> According to my analysis this address is now my gateway. Is this why I
can't connect?

pppd[0]: primary DNS address 172.21.255.254

=> As a matter of fact this DNS-server can't be reached!?

pppd[0]: Script /etc/ppp/ip-up finished (pid 13198), status = 0x0
Status is: connected

=> Would it be necessary to change some settings in
/etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-dsl0 (or elsewhere)?
