I managed to do that, accidentally. 

First i renamed the download file.avi to file.avi.part, and the program kind 
of resumed, but did not continue download - the process just stopped. then I 
gave up, deleated the old download ( but kept the file.avi.part) and started 
a new download overwriting the file.avi.part with it.

Strange, but instead of overwriting, it continued download.
