I guess double check in a terminal that the $HOME variable is set to something 
sensible. I'd also try 'touch /home/Mail' to see if you do have permissions 
to write to it. You may find poking around in /tmp and clearing out the KDE 
related files for your user is beneficial - sometimes things can go a little 
bit strange if permissions are wrong on lock files/sockets.
