What version of glibc do you have? You should be able to tell by doing
something like:

$ strings /usr/lib/libc.a | grep version

Output would be similar to:

GNU C Library 20040808 release version 2.3.4, by Roland McGrath et al.
Compiled by GNU CC version 3.3.5  (Gentoo Linux 3.3.5-r1, ssp-3.3.2-3,
pie-8.7.7.1).

Also do the "nm -a /usr/lib/libc.a | grep "T __ctype_b_loc" to see if it is
actually defined there...
