Start KDE Text-to-speech Manager (KTTSMGR), it's under Utilities in the 
K-Menu. In the Jobs tab, you can control and stop the speak jobs.
Additionally, this is also in the Control Center.

That's in the Talkers tab. Look in the help file to find locations where 
you can download additional voices.
