I would guess that you have the directory where you are mounting configured wrong -- that 
is why Konqueror is looking for the file, it needs it.

Or, it is possible that the directory where you are mounting simply doesn't have a: 
".directory" file.

Can you turn the automounter off and check the directory where you are mounting?
