With kmail the only user  id is in the 'incoming ' section under 'login'.  
Apparently that is all that is needed both for incoming and outgoing mail
as far as your indentification.
In my 'outgoing' section all I have is:
x SMTP
	SERVER:earthlink.net
	PORT:25

Hope that helps in some way
