He is not mixed up, Kmail does not do SMTP Authentication.  Version 3 which
is due out March 18 will.  The login name and password Marvin is thinking
about is for the incoming POP server ONLY.  It will have no effect on the
outgoing SMTP server.

You are confused.

You are mixing up   "smtp server"  "outgoing server id" etc.

Further, don`t fake youe stuff.  It`s pointles, it's confusing and there is
absolutely NO security benefit.

smtp server address: #probably  rogers.com
smtp port: #probably  25
pop server address (host): #probably  rogers.com
login name/address: #probably  xxxx (usually xxxx@rogers.com)
password: #well, you know this
pop port: #probably  110


Let us know how ot works out !

People, please don`t obscure information.  Also don`t type info in when you
can pull it complete from files and logs.
