I planned this.

I thought about this this way too.

I wrote a mail about that but noone answered. IMHO this button solution is
temporaly. I wanted to do it with icons.

I will try my best.
 
I have some undo/redo stuff on my harddisk. I works sometimes (only moving of
layers). I think I will commit it tomorrow evening.
