Hi,

I just had an idea: someday, when we have selection handling, selections
could be coupled to layers, i.e. the layerdialog should have a little
checkbox "keep current selection" on every layer. 
By checking/unchecking it, you switch between the global selection and
local layer selection.

In other programs, I constantly load & save selections (which is cool and
necessary too, but a little annoying sometimes).
