Package: kate
Version: 1.0 (using KDE 2.2.0 beta1)
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: compiled sources
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (SuSE)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.4-4GB
OS/Compiler notes:

The one thing that I'm missing most in Kate, KEdit and all KDE editors so far is a \
dynamic line wrap, ie an option to have the lines wrapping at a given column or at \
the window border but _without_ saving these temporary line ends as hard breaks.

This would be analogous to how probably all Windows text editors are working by \
default. So surely all newbies coming from there will expect such a capability in KDE \
editors. Also people coming from word processors. And will of course be very \
frustrated and disappointed if they don't find what they see as a basic requirement.

Same goes for people (like me) who have very long texts to write and to re-write. \
This seems all but impossible in editors which give the only alternative to either \
save every wrapped line with a hard break or to not wrap the lines at all.

These people (again including me) find Kate basically unusable for their purposes and \
still have to use Nedit in "Continuous" wrapping mode to edit their work.

Regards,

Thomas
