Package: kate
Version: 1.0 (using KDE 2.2.1 )
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: SuSE
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.5
OS/Compiler notes:

The file selector view is a great thing but it has a major drawback. To move to a \
often used location you can choose it from the drop down list. But this list changes \
every time I navigate through the directory structure, thus having all other often \
used entries replaced with every single parent directory of the destination.

Example:
Try navigate from / to /opt/kde2/share/apps/konqueror/dirtree/remote/ftp/ and view \
the dropdown list afterwards.

A better approach would be to only include those directories, which were typed into \
the edit field and accepted with return. I think I saw this behaviour in some other \
KDE apps too.

Even better would be to use implement the same bookmarks, which are stored in the \
file open dialog throughout kde. I see this view as something similar as an embedded \
open dialog, thus it should have the same functionality (eg. the reload button, the \
bookmarks button and the extras button are missing).
