As i said, IANAL :)
If one can relicense opensource code without consulting the copyrightholder using a \
compatible license, than this can also be done for translations.

Even if the original text isn't in the pot-file, it is a derative work. Just like \
when one translates a book, the copyright is shared between the original author and \
the translator (at least what i understand from dutch copyright laws)
